The field proven Military Power®UPS line is ideally suited for military, industrial and telecommunicationsapplications requiring a rugged rack, vehicular or field deployable, high reliability, compact sizeand light weight design. The heavy-duty chassis occupies only 4U (7.0”) ofrack space and is only 18.5" deep making it suitable for shallow racks asfound on submarines. The front panel is sealed meeting the Navy drip proofrequirements. Therounded metal corners and rugged handles, both front and rear, aid in safehandling. Internally, all major components are well secured and electricallyinsulated to prevent damage due to shock and vibration. The internal shielded input isolation transformer, EMI/RFI filters and input power factor correction minimize both input current and harmonics. The "1458" has the added benefit of having afield replaceable battery via a rear drawout battery module. The LEDarrays keep the operator informed as to the unit's status including load andbattery levels. The high intensity audible alarm can be heard in high noiseenvironments, yet is easily adjustable to suit quieter conditions. All controlsand protective devices are brought to the front panel with critical switches orbreakers guarded. Further, all front panel devices are recessed to preventdamage or accidental operation. The internal intelligent PDU allows control ofthe individual output circuits incorporating thermal and interlock interfacesfor additional control and safety, plus Battleshort override. The display andcontrol panel can be mounted remotely in the rack at eye level, or on the keyboardconsole with only a logic level cable connection. Both theinput circuit breaker and isolation transformer provide double pole isolation forshipboard systems.
The rear panel provides locking connectors for the input and output power with various optional configurations available. The output connectors are unique allowing the use of either standardNEMA 5-15P plugs or MS threaded metal shell connectors. The washable air filters and high capacity ball bearing fan provideadded protection in both controlled and hostile environments. The externalbattery connector allows the safe and easy addition of extra battery moduleswithout having to shut the unit down. The status D shell connectors providesignal interfaces with optional computer software and the remote display/control panels.
Overall, the Rugged Power line is uniquely qualified for critical shipboard, vehicle, airborne or land based systems combining advanced modular designfeatures with highly reliable construction.
