Standard Rear Panel Layout With 2U Battery Module

The field proven Military Power® UPS line is ideally suited for military, industrial, computer and telecommunications applications requiring high reliability, rugged construction, compact size and light weight design. These units are equally suited for use in shipboard, airborne, vehicular, fielddeployed or fixed locations with controlled or uncontrolled environments. The
ETI0001-1443 was specifically designed to meet the stringentrequirements of Boeing for use in multiple programs. The
ETI0001-1443 does not require a separate PDU since the PDUfunctions are already integrated into the UPS module. This saves rack space, cabling andexpense while improving overall reliability.

The heavy-duty chassis, occupying only 5.25”(3U) for the electronics and 3.5" (2U) for the battery module by 16” depth, delivers up to 2000 VA of clean, uninterruptible power. Therounded metal corners and rugged handles, both front and rear, aid in safehandling. Internally, all major components are well secured and electricallyinsulated to prevent damage due to shock and vibration in any axis.

The internal shieldedinput transformer provides galvanic isolation with provisions for both domestic(115 VAC, CONUS) and optional autoranging international input voltages (85-270 VAC,OCONUS). Theunit also operates as a frequency converter, taking 46-70 hertz input and converting it to 60 hertz power. Special EMI/RFI filters and input power factor correction minimize both input current and harmonics.
ETI0001-1443 accepts two independentAC power sources and includes inrush current limiting. TheUPS can operate from either power source automatically and does not use itsbattery unless both sources have failed.

The inputcircuit breaker and the galvanic isolation transformerall provide a double pole isolated source for all installations including shipboard systems oroverseas locations where phase references and grounding are not consistent. The LED arrays keep the operatorinformed as to the unit's status including load and battery levels. The ElapsedTime Indicator records the number of operational hours for records andscheduling preventative maintenance of attached equipment. The front and rear panels alsoprovide easy access to both the AC Input and Battery Input fuses. Coupled withthe adjacent spare fuses, MTTR is reduced to less than 15 minutes.

The high intensity audible alarm can be heard in high noiseenvironments and includes an audible enable/disable switch. All controlsand protective devices are brought to the front and rear panels with critical switches orbreakers guarded. Further, all front panel devices are recessed to preventdamage or accidental operation. The internal intelligent PDU allows control ofthe individual output circuits incorporating thermal and interlock interfacesfor additional control and safety, plus Battleshort override. Battleshort can beengaged via the front panel control to override thermal shutdown. When inBattleshort, an audible alarm is sounded and an indicator is lit. The display andcontrol panel can be mounted remotely in the rack at eye level, or on the keyboard console,or on the unit front panel with only a logic level cable connection.

The rear panel provides locking connectors for the input and output power with various optional configurations available. The output connectors are unique MS threaded metal shell connectors, each "clocked" differently so only one cable can go to each output. Thisunit draws air through the front air filter and exhausts out the rear vent into the rack. This allows the unit to be used in either negative or neutral pressureracks. The fan is a special extra quiet version to keep the unit's overallaudible level below 44 dB.

The batteries are maintenance free with immobilized electrolyte and are constructed of flame retardant materials. For more information, see the Battery Technology section. TheStatus connector provides aninterface with optional computer software providing loss of AC and low battery status as well asremote shut down capability. The UPS Remote Control and PDU Remote Control connectors provide aninterface to optional remote display/control panels.

See the Power Distribution Units section for a listing of stand alone PDUs. See the N3 Series for a version of UPS without the integrated PDU and remote control.

Overall, the Military Power line is uniquely qualified for critical shipboard, vehicle, airborne or land based systems combining advanced modular designfeatures with highly reliable construction.
